Welcome back stinkers! Follow Amazon’s Upfront Presentation, Disney stepped up to the plate. I am going to say that it was bit of a weaker presentation, but it did provide some things for me to talk about.
Disney’s Wizards Beyond Waverly Place
Before I get into the heavy Marvel stuff, I wanted to mention Wizards Beyond Waverly Place. Selena Gomes who starred in the original series took the stage to show this new sequel series. Although I can’t tell you much of the show myself. I can tell you what was revealed at the presentation. Gomez then went on to show off first look images of grown-up Alex and Justin Russo. The new show follows an adult Alex who is now living a normal life. Justin then realizes that he is now going to go back to wizardry, to train a fellow wizard. Now Wizards of Wavery Place was never really a show I watched when growing up. I probably won’t be looking much into this. But if you liked it and grew up with it, I hope this gets you excited.
Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again
Now, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place was the only big thing that wasn’t Marvel during the presentation. Starting with the new Daredevil: Born Again. We got confirmation that the show has a release date of March 2025. I would also like to mention a new subdivision at Marvel. Marvel is reviving Marvel Television. Recently, Marvel Studios has extended out to Marvel Animation, and Marvel Spotlight. Spotlight is made for the shows that have no real impact, and they’re things you don’t need to watch for homework. When the show was originally announced, it had a 2024 release date, and it was also set for eighteen episodes. However, with the recent creative over hall, it has been reduced to nine. Now compared to other Disney Plus shows, it has more time to grow out and more time to tell story.
Along with the new logo change, attendees were shown a first look trailer behind doors. The trailer shows Matt Murdock back in the Daredevil suit. He explains how the system is against you, as we see new glimpses at Kingpin, Foggy, and Karen. Now that wasn’t much, but it sounds like fans are about to be in for a treat.
Marvel’s Iron Heart
Now we haven’t gotten much, but we did get a confirmation that the Iron Heart series is still set to release. The show is set to have a release date sometime in 2025. Upfront attendees were shown a first look at the show. They got to see a couple of “bad ass” shot of Riri Williams donning the Iron Heart suit. It looks like she has to learn how to face the struggles of balancing her superhero life, and her regular life. The trailer apparently included footage, showing Riri stealing parts from around her campus, and being kicked out of MIT for doing so. Now just based off of what I’ve heard, it has bumped my excitement by a smidge. It also looks like the show will include some technology vs magic. Anothony Ramos was also showed throughout the trailer, portraying The Hood.
Marvel’s Agatha: All Along
It was Agatha all along! During the event, Marvel revealed their marketing scheme for the show. This series has been through multiple different titles, and they are hopefully sticking to one. I say that even though it was kind of clear that they had this in mind all along. The show has been through multiple names, House of Harkness, Coven of Chaos, Darkhold Diaries, The Lying Witch with a Great Wardrobe, and now Agatha: All Along. Along with the title, we got a release date, set for September 18th.
As of now, we don’t know much. The show features the return of Kathryn Hahn as Agatha, after the events of WandaVision. We then follow Agatha team up with unexpected allies (including Aubrey Plaza) and try to gain her magic back. Now this feels like a show that could go 50 50. It might be unnecessary, but I think the show is in good hands, and we could be feasting on something great.
