Welcome back stinkers! We have gotten some recent updates on Avengers 5! Avengers 5, originally titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, is set for a release date of 2026. Read more to find out who might be directing the film, the impacts Deadpool & Wolverine might make, and whether or not this film will be grounded.
Shawn Levy as Marvel’s Top Choice
Shawn Levy is currently in the home stretch of finishing Deadpool & Wolverine. Deadpool & Wolverine is many people’s most anticipated film of the year, which includes me. Deadpool & Wolverine doesn’t release until July 26, and it’s already looking to have a monster opening weekend. The general consensus seems to be that this film will be a billion-dollar movie. Only if it is as good as people are anticipating it to be. Yesterday, Deadline revealed that director Shawn Levy is in the running for Avengers 5. Apparently, Marvel has made an offer, we’re just waiting to hear whether he accepts it or not.
So, speaking on my thoughts of the news, I think this is an amazing pick! Marvel is clearly very impressed with the work he has done on Deadpool & Wolverine. I like to compare this to the Russo Brothers. Not the different directors themselves, but their similar situations. Of course, the Russo brothers directed Infinity War and Endgame, and they did an amazing job with that. Well before hand, the two directed Captain America: Civil War, as well as the Winter Soldier. So, it seems like the Captain America movies was a test for the brothers to overcome. Now that we’re in the Multiverse Saga, we’re going to need someone that can deal with the multiverse. This news bumped my excitement for Deadpool even more, and I’m even more excited for the next Avengers. Marvel must have a lot of faith in Deadpool, to make Shawn Levy in charge of the Avengers. This is however a little different, because the Avengers is going to be an ensemble film, which I’ll get into in a bit. Although Shawn Levy hasn’t really dealt with an ensemble yet, the multiverse does include a butt ton of characters.
The Impact of Deadpool & Wolverine
Now of course, we can’t leave out Deadpool & Honey badger. One of the questions I have is whether or not this movie will make an impact in the future. I think that it will, whether or not Shawn Levy is involved. It’s looking like this movie is going to have high multiversal stakes and leave a lasting impact all the way to Avengers 5, then Secret Wars. Now I think if Shawn Levy does end up directing Avengers 5, then I think that there would be a stronger chance. It would be awesome to see a Deadpool & Wolverine cameo! I mean we’re about to talk about it in a second, but there’s a lot of room to fill, and I think these could be key characters. I think that by the end of Deadpool & Wolverine, something huge will happen. After these two bond together, which is going to be awesome, I think they’re going to see what’s going on behind the scenes, and at least Deadpool will go to the MCU to warn everyone what’s coming. That’s just my speculation, nothing story wised is confirmed. It’s going to be like that for a long time.
60 Returning Characters???
Now what might be the most worrisome news, there is allegedly going to be 60 cast members. That part is just an inside report, nothing official from the big outlets. I wanted to explore the two outcomes here. I don’t necessarily believe this, but let’s just pretend that it’s true. They must have all the faith in the world in this film! Looking at Avengers: Endgame, it has 38 cast members, with a $356 million budget. Luckily for them, it paid off big time! Now if they do end up almost doubling the Endgame cast for Avengers 5, I think some things are going to be different. Some characters will have more of a role, compared to others. I think that most of the 60, will be smaller roles. Some might be cameos, some might be small, but a significant push along the way.
Now, what if this report is false? If it ends up being less that 60, like a lot less, then I think that might back up this older report, saying this is a more grounded film. In some ways I understand going the more grounded direction, but in some ways I don’t. I think if you’re going to go the multiverse route, then go the multiverse route. But maybe, what they mean by grounded is like what Infinity War was compared to Endgame. I think that this movie could have multiversal stakes, especially if they’re waning a multiversal director, and I think this could be the set up for Secret Wars. Unless Secret Wars is a two part film. I think this would include the new Avengers team setup by Captain America (Sam Wilson), and then Deadpool & Wolverine could come in, to warn them on what’s to come.
Wrapping Up
That’s going to be it for my speculation on what might happen to Avengers 5. This is huge speculation on my part, so other than the official news, don’t take anything that I said seriously. I hope you enjoyed my thoughts, and I hope this can help you further speculate as well. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to catch up on some movie news.
