Welcome back stinkers! We have recently gotten our first look at DreamWorks’ first attempt in the live action realm with the How to Train Your Dragon Teaser trailer. Today I will be giving you my thoughts and quick recap/breakdown of the trailer.

How to Train Your Dragon Teaser Thoughts

Now I’m just going to say it. For a first teaser trailer that shows us nothing about the story. I absolutely loved it!! Now of course it’s the first teaser trailer, it shouldn’t tell you much about the story. It was just able to encapsulate the feel of this movie extraordinarily well. The character designs look amazing, and they got the dragons down perfectly. Now it’s going to be a while till we get another trailer, but I’ll be looking forward to learning more about the story. Now the one thing that I have to see to 100% sell me on the movie is whether or not it’s a shot for shot remake. I don’t think they’re going to do that because people are already able to spot small differences that can majorly affect the story.

How to Train Your Dragon Teaser Analysis

Stoick the Vast

First How To Train Your Dragon Live-Action Trailer & Poster Revealed

Now before I get into more of my breakdown, I wanted to suggest you go check out the First Look BTS video that they released. I think it is absolutely fantastic, and highly recommend you go check it out. Now starting out with what I’m looking the most forward to in this movie is, Stoick the Vast! Gerald Butler reprises his role as Hiccup’s father, and chief of his tribe. Now looking at the two shots we see, I believe that is him leading the charge to go attack the dragons, which is towards the end of the movie.

I also wanted to mention one difference that people were able to point out, being that Hiccup flat out tells his father that he can’t kill dragons. Whereas, in the original film, Hiccup made his dad believe that he could kills dragons, but he couldn’t do it. I think it’s going to be small details like that. that’ll change the story up a bit to where it could feel like its own thing. This detail, probably among others, is going to be able to change the relationship between Hiccup and his dad a bit.

Hiccup and Toothless

How to Train Your Dragon' Live-Action Remake Reveals First Trailer

We then get the absolute iconic shot of Hiccup putting his hand out towards Toothless. Now I think that Toothless and the rest of the dragons look absolutely perfect! They couldn’t have done a better job. Now it does look like that they dynamic between Hiccup and Toothless might change as well. Instead of Toothless looking for fearful and aggressive at first, he is shown to be more curious. Now I know it’s not a big change, but I think it could possibly be something that effects the future.

Whether Universal is planning to adapt the trilogy into live action or not, I think they could be saving for more emotional moments. What I mean by that is, basically if they show Toothless more curious and innocent, when Toothless makes a sacrifice or is there to protect Hiccup, it might just add even more to the emotion and add to the dynamic between the two.

How to Train Your Dragon Teaser Wrap Up
