Welcome back stinkers! I got home to quite the surprise today, with a new trailer. That is none of than the, A Minecraft Movie teaser. So, I thought that I could deliver you another one of my trailer breakdowns, along with my thoughts on the trailer itself. A Minecraft Movie features the likes of Jack Black as Steven in the world of Minecraft, and he helps out this group of people new to the world. This group features, Jason Momoa, Daniel Brooks, Emma Myers, and Sebastion Eugene Hansen.
A Minecraft Movie Teaser Thoughts
This was an interesting trailer. I’ve now had some time to think about it, and all I have to say is weird. Ya’ll, I love Jack Black and Jason Momoa, and I like the Minecraft game. I just thought that this first teaser trailer was weird. It’s really just the looks and feel of it. I will say, the Minecraft world looks great! They really got the look down. It’s just how the characters fit into that world. It just doesn’t look all that good, and it just looks like an obvious green screen. I’ve also been seeing a lot of people saying how this looks like a Jumanji rip-off. Well yeah, I see where they’re coming from, I just think that this movie is going to be able to differentiate itself enough from Jumanji.
There was also something about the humor that didn’t feel right. It just wasn’t sticking. I mean who knows? Maybe it was the fault of the trailer house, and this could be a really good movie. The director of the movie also directed things like Nacho Libre and Napoleon Dynamite, and those are known to be some of the funniest movies.
A Minecraft Movie Teaser Analysis
Our Cast of Characters
So, we start off the teaser with our main cast of characters walking through a portal. Starting off with the little kids in the group, we have Henry and Natalie. Natalie has custody over her little brother, because their parents had sadly passed away. The two then movie to Idaho to start a new life, and that is where they meet their realtor Dawn, who helps them out all she can. Now for Jason Momoa’s character, he is a guy that goes by the name of Garet. You might’ve noticed that he looks like a man who’s stuck in the 80s. Well, that’s because he was an 80s video game champion.
Minecraft Creatures and Mobs
Now moving on to the mobs of the Minecraft world. I mentioned earlier that I thought the world looks spectacular (except for the humans), and that goes for the mobs as well. We see things like sheep, wolves, creepers, piglins, ghasts, and llamas. One fun and interesting detail about the pink sheep is that it’s apparently a really rare mob to find in the game. Now I’ve seen some people complaining about the look of these creatures, but I however think they’re great. Making a blocky animal/creature was always going to look a little weird, but I personally think they pulled it off really well.
This trailer gave off of a bit of campy/goofy vibe. I think that could potentially be really great for the movie; however, the trailer didn’t make that very apparent. So, what I think is going to happen is that Warner Bros. is going to fire the trailer house that made this teaser. I then think they’re going to hire a new one, learn from their mistakes, and create better trailers. This movie doesn’t come out for about 8 months! That will be plenty of time to learn from their mistakes, and that only goes to show how successful this movie could be.
The Piglins
So, it’s looking like the Piglins are going to be the villains of the movie. The Piglins are group that is straight up against creativity, and it looks like that going to play into the plot of the movie. We see a moment which looks like the Piglins raiding a village, possibly Steve’s village, and destroying it all. There’s also a moment where we see Steve enter what looks like the Nether. That could possibly be a part of the third act of the film, where he could be putting a stop to the Piglins, or he could be captured by the Piglins. It’s really too soon to tell.
I… Am Steve!
Now for the man himself, Steve! Jack Black is starting to become the kind of video game movies, after the likes of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and more recently, Borderlands. A lot of fans have been complaining that they just put Jack Black in a blue shirt and called it a day. I honestly don’t mind, but I can agree, they could’ve put in a little more effort. In the movie, Steve is a pro in this Minecraft world and has created his own village and everything. Well, a potential plot point for his character, is that he’s a loser from the real world. He then discovers the world of Minecraft and has basically lived there for quite a while.
It looks like his role in the film, is that he will be a guide for our other characters, and they will help them through Minecraft. Another character you can’t forget about is Jennifer Coolidge. She wasn’t shown in the trailer, and we still don’t know her role. I think we could potentially see an Alex, and she could be the love interest for Jack Black. That’s just pure speculation! Don’t believe a thing I say.
A Minecraft Movie Teaser Wrap Up
