Welcome back stinkers! Brazil is currently undergoing their D23, where they’ve announced things like Ice Age 6, Marvel showing brand new looks at Captain America 4 Thunderbolts*, and more. Today I will be giving you my thoughts and analysis of the brand-new Captain America: Brave New World Trailer.
Captain America Brave New World Trailer Thoughts
Now it took a hot minute for the trailer to sink in with me, but once it did, I actually really enjoyed it. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a Marvel movie like this. I’ve actually kind of missed the political thrillers side of the MCU, and I can’t wait to see whether or not they can still pull it off.
I think that the action looks awesome, and that the plot looks surprisingly good. If you’ve been following the production of this movie, this film has had quite a lot of bumps in the road. The original version of the film wasn’t going well, as it reportedly didn’t work well with audiences. Once Kevin Feige got his creative power back, he stopped production and did reshoots on reshoots on reshoots. In fact the film is still going through reshoots! The newer version of the film apparently isn’t working well with test audiences either.
After watching this trailer, I don’t understand how this movie could be so bad! After watching this new trailer, I think that whoever reported on those test audience screenings were lying, or this Marvel just put together a hell of a marketing team. I am of course holding out hope, and I think that this movie has the potential to be something great!
Captain America: Brave New World Trailer Analysis
Isaiah Bradley Attacks the President?
So, we open the trailer up with what seems to be the aftermath of what happened at the White House here. We’ve seen this incident in trailers past, but we sort of get more of a view of what happens. Isaiah of course gets arrested for attacking the president, and that’s where we pick up at the beginning of the trailer, with Sam Wilson visiting Bradley. I think Bradley’s role in this movie is going to be an important one. I’m only really saying that after the events of Falcon and the Winter Soldier. He has faced many struggles being a black super soldier, and it looks like he’s really going to be facing some here.
My theory is that this takes place towards the beginning of the movie, and this is The Leader that’s controlling Isiaha, behind the scenes. Isaiah tells Sam that he doesn’t know what happened and he didn’t want to attack the president, it was just something that took over him. I believe that is going to set up the rest of the film, as we dive into the political mystery. In which we’ll find out that it was The Leader behind all of this.
Wartime General to Wartime President
Now a big step that Marvel had to go through was recasting the late, William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross. I think that Marvel made the best decision recasting him with one of the best actors there is, Harrison Ford. These whips, one liners, and just lines of dialogue that I’ve been hearing just sound awesome. “You’re not Steve Rodgers”, or “I was a wartime general, now I’m a wartime president.” So, just based off of that one line, it sounds like that Ross isn’t all that happy, probably after the attack. That’s when Sam tries to help out the president, telling him that his inner circle has been compromised.
It of course is looking like that we might be on the brink of war. Which I think that could be something used to grab the audience’s attention. It’s really going to get us on the edge of our seats. I just love the shots of Captain America and the new Falcon on the water near Tiumut, and also just the split screen shots of where we see Sam and Ross looking up. I also just couldn’t help but notice that on the side we see Thaddeus Ross, there’s some sort of radiant glow, maybe like an explosion.
Conflict over Adamantium and Tiamut
We then get a couple sick shots of Sam flying, and some awesome arial fights new Tiamut. I did want to mention that Tiamut was originally introduced in the film, Eternals. It is a dead celestial that has been lying the Indian Ocean for years. We are now finally getting to learn more about Tiamut! One of the main things that is introduced in the past trailers is that they have found Adamantium, and they are looking to share it with the world. Adamantium of course is what Wolverine’s bones are made of. As we get closer and closer to a Mutant era, Adamantium is seemingly going to become a focus. It’s looking like it’s going to spark a conflict between nations, just based off of the Brave New World Trailer.
Sam Wilson Gets an Upgrade
We then get this sweet shot of Sam landing near a bunch of enemies, then “Wait for it…” and the enemies blow away. Even though this is practically the same suit Sam was wearing at the end of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it still has an upgrade. He has that new arial helmet, which looks like it uses Stark, Nano tech! So, with Sam wearing this suit, it makes me want to say that it is in the beginning of the film. I could easily see this being a mission that opens the movie. Later, Sam would then get his new dark blue suit.
Red Hulk!!
The last think I wanted to leave you off with today was Red Hulk! I have just got to say, Red Hulk looks awesome!! Just that one glimpse at the fight between Sam and Red Hulk looks like it might be one of the best fights of the MCU. This is also where I’m going to talk about The Leader. Tim Blake Nelson is returning as The Leader, and he is going to be pulling the strings, behind the scenes. It’s going to be very interesting to see this unfold. It’s something that I’m really excited for!
