Welcome back stinkers! The next Fortnite season comes out tomorrow, and with that I wanted to recap the trailer and recent tidbits that we’ve gotten. I am currently recovering from the whole D23 weekend, with trailer after trailer, after trailer. I’ve even had to cut a few! I would recommend you check out my DIsney Experiences Recap, where they debuted the Absolute Doom trailer.
Fortnite: Absolute Doom Trailer Thoughts
Speaking on my thoughts of the trailer, I thought it was awesome! I’m toootally not biased, but the original Marvel season was peak Fortnite! Now, I don’t think that this season is going to be as good as the original, but this trailer gave me hope for the future. I think that Marvel and Fortnite working together could create magic and can bring Fortnite back to life. I think that the Battle Pass looks great, the map looks great, and I even think the weapons look great!
Fortnite: Absolute Doom Trailer Analysis
Doctor Doom Has Returned
We then get the reveal of a lifetime! Yes, it’s totally better than the return of Robert Downey Jr. The Wanderer is revealed to be Doctor Doom. The Wanderer could be seen roaming the map, leaving a mark in different places. That was then followed by a mini live event, where Doctor Doom exploded the Nitro plant, at least from my understanding. Nitro was the energy used during the Mad Max style season, where you were able to speed up. So, after the explosion, Pandora’s Box makes its return from the Myths and Mortals season. That’s where the trailer follows those events. Doom opens the box himself, and obtains the power contained in the box.
There’s actually a theory out there on Doctor Doom’s motives on doing so. We’ve gotten some looks at new Fortnite Marvel locations. Throughout the new pictures, we get looks at Synthia Von Doom. Synthia can be seen on the stain glass, as well as a statue in her name. If you don’t know who Synthia Von Doom is, she is Victor (Doctor) Doom’s mother. The theory is that Doom could be trying to take the island, along with Pandora’s Box, to revive his mother. With this new season lining up with the Halloween event, Fortnitemares, that would be a good time to see the resurrection. One more thing. Could we see a Tony Stark variant of this skin?
Absolute Doom Battle Pass
Now for the main attraction, the Battle Pass. Here’s the Battle Pass, in this order. 1. Gwenpool 2. War Machine 3. Peeleverine 4. Emma Frost 5. Captain Jonesy 6. Mysterio 7. Shuri, and for the secret not so secret skin, Doctor Doom. We get a butt ton of references in here.
We first see Captain Jonesy hit enemies with his shield. Then we see Doctor Doom, along with Emma Frost and a Sabretooth version of Meowcles free Mysterio out of the raft. We then get a one for one shot recreation of Wolverine getting his Adamantium bones, but with Peeleverine. I would also like to point out the other banana that can be seen in the tank in the back. We already know we are getting a Peelepool, thanks to cosplayers at D23. I think that’s what we’re looking at here. The villains and the heroes then clash into battle, mirroring the final battle of Avengers: Endgame.
New and Retuning Weapons
Now on to the gameplay! We get a look at the return of Captain America’s shield, this time it’s Captain Jonesy’s. Following that, we see Shuri charge into battle with Black Panther claws, and then we see Gwenpool. Returning from Chapter 2 Season 4, (possibly upgraded), we see Iron Man’s blasters. You are able to blast your enemies, along with maneuvering through the skies. Side note, in the cinematic beforehand, the Stark blaster rifles could be spotted as well. Another mythic we see is Mysterio’s. I’m actually quite excited to see this one play out. It looks like with his mythic, you could maybe put out clones of yourself. If that doesn’t end up happening, that could just be for the boss to get some separate mythic. Peeleverine charges on to the scene with dual oozies.
We then get looks at two new mythics. We see War Machine, and you are able to obtain his amour, and fly around, while locking on and shooting at people. That’s then followed up by an upgraded Doctor Doom mythic, as we see him use his abilities and blast the enemy players through his chest.
New Marvel Locations
We are getting three new POIs this season! Starting off with the Doom related ones, we are getting Castle Doom, and Doomstadt. I would expect Doomstadt to basically be a version of Latveria. Latveria was the fictional country that Doom is from. In the cinematic, we saw Doom raise his castle, and that will be more than likely where you can fight him. Where are you dropping first in the new season? I plan on visiting The Raft. If you don’t know the Raft is an underwater prison, that is made to enclose powerful villains/heroes. That’s where the heroes like Ant-Man and The Scarlet Which were sent in Captain America: Civil War. The Raft is also the prison where you sent villains in the Spider-Man PlayStation games.
The Fantastic Four?
Now the last thing I wanted to touch upon was the Fantastic Four. On social media, we have gotten teases from both Fortnite and Marvel for the Fantastic Four. There’s a landmark that has a ruined Fantastic Four logo, as well as Doom’s throne being made out of the Thing. I think that the Fantastic Four could be officially introduced near the halfway point of the season. We could see a mini trailer of sorts that shows Doom beating the Four to a pulp. With old Fortnite lore in mind, the Fantastic Four would just come back the next round. That could be how we can see the playable skins. I think we could see one of those mini passes for the Fantastic Four as well.
Now, I wanted to bring up the topic of a live event. The last time Marvel did one, it was spectacular! Kevin Fiege (Head of Marvel) even said that he showed the crew of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie the event to capture the size and essence of Galactus. So, they can put on a good event, and I would hope that’s what they do here. If so, I think the Fantastic Four could be an integral part of that.
