Welcome back stinkers! I am back with yet another review, but it’s probably the only kind you’ll see. For I am here to review the straight to streaming Nickelodeon movie, Henry Danger: The Movie. So, stick with me for just a few minutes.
Working Nostalgia
Starting off with the good, it’s what you would expect for a Henry Danger movie. I went into this with probably the lowest of expectations, and it made those expectations. Really the only reason why I watched this, and it’s probably the same for a lot of you, I grew up watching the original show. So, if you’re going in here for some of that nostalgia it’ll do that for you. Spoilers in 3…2…1… Captain Man makes a return cameo at the end of the movie. Now I actually enjoyed that tease at the end. Pretty much because of that Nostalgia bit. A part of me does hope that we can get a sequel with Henry and Captain Man as the leads.
Henry Danger V.S. Thundermans
One other good thing I found in this movie, is that it’s actually a movie. Thundermans was another show I grew up on, and their movie from last year was also quite nostalgic. The reason why it didn’t work for me is because they literally took an episode and stretched out into a full movie. So, everything would just either feel repetitive or it would drag on and on. However, Henry Danger was at least an actual movie. So, that’s why Henry Danger gets the slight edge against Thundermans.
A Nickelodeon Production
Moving on to the not so good, it’s a Henry Danger movie. I mean what would you expect? The humor is going to be corny, and it’s going to feel cheap. But I will say this looked better than other Nickelodeon features. Still cheap though. Again. What would you expect? Since I’ve simply grown up from the show, it’s just not funny anymore. So, if you’re still a Henry Danger fan and you still enjoy the show, this movie is for you.
Repetitive Nature
Now I know I said that you don’t get that repetitive nature that Thundermans movie had, but now that I think about it, this movie can be repetitive in its own way. The plot thread of Henry belittling Jasper was sweet, but very repetitive. In every story/universe Henry travels too, they always make it a point that Henry is now the sidekick and he’ll learn his lesson and treat the real Jasper right.
So, once we did get to that moment where he makes it up to the real Jasper, it doesn’t feel like anything. We already saw Henry change in character several times already. There’s also the fact that it felt like this movie was made to only pour into a sequel show. I kind of felt the same way about Thundermans, which is coming back with another show. They so obviously want to make a new Henry Danger show and it feels like they only made this movie to do so!
Henry Danger: The Movie Review Wrap Up
That is going to do it for my review of Henry Danger: The Movie! I hope you liked it, but I’ve simply just grown out of it. And I hope that the new generation can enjoy these new shows and hopefully the old, because I will not be watching them. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read yet another one of my reviews! Make sure you visit The Big Stinker channel for my video reviews! So, until next time stinkers! Bye bye.
