So, recently it has been announced that Margot Robbie is developing two movies, Sims, and Monopoly. “What’s the point you?” You may ask. Well, you have come to the right place, for I will breakdown what I think is Robbie’s plan for the future. Keyword there is, “think”. I don’t know what she really is doing, all I know is what everyone else knows.

What is Margot Robbie Doing?

Margot Robbie Reflects on 'Bombshell,' Working With Director Idols

Margot Robbie has recently popped off with her Barbie movie fame. Critically, and financially to say the least. Barbie was a movie that was very split between people. Before the movie came out, people thought that it would make a billion dollars (which it did) or that it would be a complete flop and no one would see it. Now not too long ago it was announced that she will be producing a Sims, and Monopoly movie.

Margot Robbie’s Sims Movie

Complete Guide To The Sims 4

Video game movies have been getting more and more popular by the day, but why Sims? A movie about Mario, or Sonic makes sense because of their fame and fortune. The Sims is a video game where it doesn’t have a specific main character, let alone a recognizable one. The only thing people could recognize from the Sims are the green diamonds that hover around a character’s head, but that’s still a stretch. As of now, Margot Robbie is set to produce the film, but it has not been confirmed if she’ll star in it. That being said, Margot Robbie started out as a producer for Barbie, and she wasn’t set to be Barbie. Safe to say we know how that worked out.

The Sims isn’t a video game with a main story. Right there, people are questioning why the movie is being made, and where it’s going to go. I personally believe if something like The Lego Movie, or even Barbie can be made, then Sims is still in the realm of possibility. It doesn’t matter what the movie is about, only the writing and plot of the movie.

Margot Robbie’s Monopoly Movie

CinemaCon was last week, and at Lionsgate’s presentation, they announced that a Monopoly movie is in development. Similar to Sims, Margot Robbie is set to produce it, but as of now, she won’t star in it. It actually isn’t the first time a Monopoly movie has been up in the air. For a while, director, Tim Story, and actor, Kevin Hart were a part of the film. This might be another case where they don’t have much of a story to base the movie off of. For me, I think that Monopoly might be an easier adaptation to use. Here’s a bit of a pitch. Of course you need to feature Pennybags. Then I think you could take the player tokens and spin those into human characters that represent those tokens. I then think you could explore each character and their financial journey throughout the film.

Why is Margot Robbie Making These?

So, to answer the question, “Why is Margot Robbie Making These movies?” I think Margot Robbie is trying to keep a hot streak, after what happened with Barbie. I think her goal is to pick up these well known franchises that people wouldn’t expect to be in a movie, and turn those into money makers. Everyone knows the board game of Monopoly, and if the marketing of the film is done right, it might do very well. That being said, everyone thought that Detective Pikachu would be a billion dollar film because Pokemon is one of the most popular franchises. All I’m going to say is that the movie didn’t make a billion.
