Welcome back stinkers! I am currently catching up on some recent Nintendo announcements, and I am here to give you my breakdown of the Super Mario Party Jamboree trailer. I’ve actually already covered the recent Mario & Luigi: Brothership trailer. So, once you’re done here, make sure you go check that out.
Super Mario Party Jamboree Trailer Thoughts
I’m just going to say it. This looks like the best Mario Party game yet! It’s going to be bigger than ever. More mini games, more characters, more everything! I also want to say, that this could provide a new and fresh take on the Mario Paty genre. I like how they’re fixing the mistakes of the first Super Mario Party. They’re also taking what worked with Mario Party Superstars and putting it in here. I wouldn’t be surprised if the reason why they have some old boards in here is because of the success of Superstars. I can’t wait for this game to come out! Super Mario Party Jamboree is set to come out October 17, 2024.
A New Party!
We are welcomed by Kamek, as he introduced a bigger and bolder party. Now I would like to mention that the Mario Party franchise has been through a bit of a reboot recently. Before we had Mario Party 1-10, Nintendo 64-Wii U. Then we got the Switch, where we got Super Mario Party, which would eventually get followed up by Mario Party Superstars. I think that from now on, whenever we get a new Mario Party, expect it to go by Super Mario Party.
We are then showed a look at the new island that we are going to be playing at. Expect this island resort to be the hub area where you can access the different modes. Based off of other boards and shots we get in the trailer, it looks like it will all follow under the theme, and each board/mode will have its own island.
Playable Characters
Now before I get into the different boards in minigames, I wanted to talk about all the character that will be in here. From the cover you can already see Mario, Luigi Peach, Bowser, Daisy, Waluigi, Toad, Goomba, and Kamek. Throughout the trailer we are able to see different characters, so what I’m going to do is give you a list of who is going to be in the game. Note, the list is not final. That was just my pure speculation based off of the trailer.
- Mario
- Luigi
- Toad
- Toadette
- Peach
- Daisy
- Rosalina
- Waluigi
- Wario
- Donkey Kong
- Yoshi
- Birdo
- Bowser
- Bowser Jr.
- Goomba
- Monty Mole
- Boo
- Shy Guy
- Koopa
- Spike
Minigame Island
Now for a game like this, there isn’t necessarily a lot of details for me to point out. So, what I’m going to do is tell you about some new features, like new boards, and mini games. Now the island showed above looks like the place that could be for mini games. Every Mario Party has a mode where you can play every minigame. I’m telling you, the name for this place is going to be Minigame Island. Now looking at the characters that can be seen on the island, I think they might be hosts or they just play another role.
I mean they could be playable characters, it’s very likely. The only reason why I think they could be playable characters is because of the different boardwalks, fitted for different entrances for different characters. The three that I was able to see is Boom Boom, Lakitu, and a Koopa. I can see someone behind the tree, but not enough to where I can see who it is.
New Mario Party Boards
Now here are the different Mario Party boards. In Rainbow Galleria you are able move around a mall, that just so happens to look like Coconut Mall. Whenever you collect enough coins, you are able to buy a star for half off when there’s a flash sale. In Roll ’em Raceway, you are able to move around the board in your very own race car. This board also features the debut of a new Turbo Dice item, where on a lucky roll you are able to move up to 40 spaces. Then there’s Goomba Lagoon. This is a board that is constantly changing. The tide could change, or the volcano could explode. There’s also two other brand-new boards, Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party, and King Bowser’s Keep.
It doesn’t end there. Earlier I mentioned how there are two returning boards from older Mario games. From the first Mario Party, there’s Mario’s Rainbow Castle! From Mario Party 2, there’s Western Land! I also mentioned earlier that Nintendo might be learning from their mistakes, and they might just be taking what worked from Superstars and putting it in here.
New Mario Party Minigames
Earlier I mentioned how this might just be the biggest Mario Party game yet. The trailer alone already confirmed the fact that Jamboree already has the most minigames. We see a montage of some of the minigames that will be featured. Action packed challenges, like the mechanical based one shown above. There’s also speed trials, like racing on a Yoshi. A battle of whit, like sorting cards together to make one big picture. We then get into some of the joy con features, where we see a mini game where we have to hammer down nails or shaking the joy cons to get a ball in the hole. Although we don’t know everyone, we know that there will be 110 total minigames.
Koopathlon and More Minigames
We are then introduced to the Koopathlon, where you are able to compete online with up to 20 players. This is also the section where we get a glimpse at even more minigames. Like one where we have to run from Bowser as he destroys the ground from below you. We also see one where we have to work together to race a Wiggler. Then what might be the strangest one is where we see Mario and Luigi carry Peach as they fly through this Mario 64 like environment. The last mini game I would like to point out is with another giant Bowser. It might just be me, but this looks like it could be the best minigame out of them all. From the looks of it, it’s a tower defense type mode, where you have to defeat Bowser.
Wrap Up
That is going be it for my analysis and thoughts of the Super Mario Party Jamboree Trailer! This game looks really fun. I know it’s too early to say, but this could look like the best Mario Party game yet. Feel free to share your thoughts!
