Welcome back stinkers! We have finally got the trailer for arguably the biggest Marvel movie of the year, The Fantastic Four: First Steps! Today I will be breaking down and reviewing The Fantastic Four: First Steps Teaser for you here! And I ask. Please like and subscribe for more videos like these!

Reed Richards and Sue Storm

We start the trailer off with Reed and Sue greeting a guest to their home. Reed Richards is played by Pedro Pascal! The Mandalorian! Also known for The Last of Us, and Game of Thrones. And Sue Storm is played by Vanessa Kirby! You might know from Hobbs and Shaw or Napoleon!

Mole Man

The guest that they greet looks like Paul Walter Houser! We still don’t know his exact role in the movie yet, but I still think he could be Mole Man! That could be such a good twist villain! I think this opening trailer shot could be from the first act of the film, and then near the end of the first act or the beginning of the second could show him turn into Mole Man. This would also be a great chance for Mole Man to get the edge of the Fantastic Four, because Reed and Sue are giving him details of their lives that no one else knows. So, after this I still believe Paul Walter Houser is Mole Man. I think this even just adds more fuel to the fire.

The Thing

Now here’s The Thing… I’m sorry I won’t do that again. Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays Ben Grimm! You might know him from The Bear! In fact there are some parallels between the two which I love. Even if that isn’t intentional, I just love the performance of Bachrach. That dynamic he already has with Herbie, is just amazing. I can already tell this is going to be a very memorable part of the film. Speaking of Herbie. We get our first look at him, and he is just adorable. I think this guy might take the internet by storm. At least to the level that Dog Pool did last summer.

Now speaking on my thoughts of the design. I think it looks FANTASTIC! I’m sorry I won’t do that again… Anyways, I will say it might be a little too animated. That might just be from this shot we get, because in a later shot from the trailer, we see another look at him, that I think definitely looks better.

Reed’s Multiverse Theory

That’s when Reed does something he often does, late night calculations. The math/scientist brain of him of course is a very important part to the character. Now if you zoom in, Reed has drawn out what looks to be Einstein’s multiverse theory. In 1935, Albert Einstein and his colleague, Nathan Rosen, proposed the existence of holes in the fabric of space-time which link the universe with a mirror universe on the other side.

Connection to Avengers

I think this is an early set up in the film for a possible connection to the Avengers and the Multiverse Saga as a whole. We already know that the Fantastic Four will return in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. I think the film will reintroduce the concept of multiverse to the audience, and by the end of the film, we will have some sort of gateway into Doomsday. Fantastic Four: First Steps is the closest movie that we know of to Doomsday. Now there is an untitled film in Marvel’s schedule, so I think that is important to note as well.

Connections to Doom

My theory on how this movie can lead into Doomsday is that in a post credit scene or something at the end, shows us Doctor Doom! And we learn that he is a threat to the multiverse. Going back to this movie, maybe Galactus wins, and is about to destroy earth. That’s when the Fantastic Four’s universe ends up an Incursion because of Galactus, and that’s how they can collide into Avengers. That is just my speculation. Feel free to leave what you think down in the comments.

The Thing (Trench coat)

Ok. Here’s the Thing. Sorry this is the last time I promise. Anyways, we get a look at The Thing in his classic trench coat! This shot shows Ben in a bit of a tough spot. I think in context this could be a rather emotional part of the film. In this trailer, I love the scene so much. Walking past some televisions on display, it shows Ben Grimm before the space mission that changed the four of them. I think that The Thing might just be the heart of the family.

Human Torch

That’s when we get our first look at Human Torch! Joseph Quinn plays Johnny Storm! You might remember him from last year’s A Quiet Place: Day One, or Eddie from Stranger Things. From the little that we get of him in the trailer, it sold Quinn as Johnny for me. From that shot of Sue walking in on him in his space suit, to his transformation as the Human Torch. And I just love that shot we get of him launching out of the atmosphere and then just slowly floating back down. I mean the cinematography is just a chef’s kiss!

Misc Things

Now for some miscellaneous things in the trailer. We get a shot at the Fantasticar, John Malkovich, and even Galactus! With the Fantasticar, a prop was shown flying through comic con! In the trailer the car is seen speeding through New York, and I’d only assume it would have the capability to take launch.

Red Ghost

Now we also get a shot at John Malkovich’s character. The theory that’s going around right now is that he is playing an early Fantastic Four villain, Red Ghost. Red Ghost is a Russian villain fixated on beating America to the moon. Because of that, I think Malkovich is Red Ghost. I mean just look at Malkovich’s past, he’s played many Russian characters! The character’s goals and ambitions do fit into the movie quite nicely. I don’t however think that he’ll have trained monkeys in this adaptation though.

Galactus

Now for the big one! The Devourer of Worlds! Now we don’t have the best look at Galactus which is ok of course, it’s the first trailer. Ralph Ineson plays Galactus! I mean talk about amazing casting, just listen to his voice! Now in the shot that we do get, it did make me think that something is off. Galactus is known as The Devourer of Worlds, and he’s usually 10x bigger than the planets he eats. But, in this trailer he seems too small to do so. So, that makes me think that he is after something that will allow him to do so. Maybe Franklin Richards?? Who knows?

The Fantastic Four: First Steps Teaser Review

Thank you all for those who stayed till the end! I thought this trailer was great! One could say… FANTASTIC. Last time I swear. I love what this trailer establishes! I love the dynamic they set up between the team members, and I think the overall look and feel of the film was great.

I always say, one of the best parts about an ensemble, is that you know they’ve made something special when you can mix and match people together and they bring something great to the table. I truly believe that we are going to get that in this film. And I just love that closing shot of the team suited up, ready to go. One other fun detail before I wrap up for the day. What inspired these suits are the inside layers that an actual astronaut would wear.
