In 2025 we will see the introduction of the Fantastic Four to the MCU. The cast consists of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vannessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and up and comer, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. Now recently we had Marvel release a poster of our Human Torch, but people started to take notice of the skyline in the background. I’m no architect but I can say confidently that city has not ever existed in any time period. So, that only proves, this movie does not take place in the main MCU (Earth 616).
The question I would like to ask is, How will they connect this to the sacred timeline? I also wonder if this will have any effect on the main MCU. Well today that is what I will like to theorize and speculate about. So, like I said the movie is taking place in another universe, in the 60s. Someone by the name of Robert Muyer Burnett asked, “What If the Fantastic Four took place in the same universe that Monica Rambeau landed in at the end of The Marvels?” Now building off of that, I think that would be a great way to connect the Multiverse Saga. So, here’s what I think is going to happen. So, as we know the Fantastic Four is going to take place in the 60s, keep in mind, it’s being directed by the same person behind Wandavision, Matt Shakman. Early episodes of the show consisted of a 50s-60s TV style. So, I really think Shakman might make a movie, like the Incredibles mixed with The Jetsons, and if that’s the case I think we could make a movie that’s unique, and different, but with Shakman you can expect the MCU feel along with that.
Now another movie that Marvel is working on in Avengers Secret Wars. As of now it’s been reported that Secret Wars will be a soft reboot of the MCU. Now I can say almost with confidence that the new Fantastic Four will stay for the new MCU. If it truly is a soft reboot I think that the only people they’re going to bring back or recast are characters that were introduced in the original Infinity Saga. The question I have is, how will they bring this Fantastic Four into the MCU? In the original first look picture Marvel put out, you can see a picture of Ben Grim in the background with an astronaut suit. My guess is that the Fantastic Four will be traveling through space, or they’ll be through inter dimensional travel, and by the end they will show up in the main Sacred Timeline. There have also been reports saying that Earth 616 will suffer an incursion. If that is true, then I would think that the incursion would be with the universe that the Fantastic Four is in. If the Fantastic Four do end up being in the universe Rambeau landed in, then it would make it even more likely if it ends up colliding with 616. At the end of the day there are many options that the Fantastic Four can go, and I have trust in Matt Shakman to deliver a great movie.
Another piece of news that was released recently is the casting announcement of the Silver Surfer. It isn’t the Norrin Radd Silver Surfer that everyone knows, it is Shalla-Ball. Emmy winner Julia Garner has been cast as the Silver Surfer, but “fans” have had some complaints. To clear up some confusion, this is not a gender swap. Shalla-Ball has been a character in comics for quite a while now, and she is even the love interest of Norrin Radd. Since this takes place in another universe, it makes sense for it to be a different Silver Surfer. Just because Ball has been cast, it doesn’t mean that Radd doesn’t have a chance to be cast in the future. Whether it is in the Fantastic Four movie or not.
Now with that being said, what role will she play in the movie? Well Silver Surfer is the herald to Galactus, so I think she’ll play a role in that kind of thing. There’s been reports as of now saying that Javier Bardem is in the running for the role of Galactus. Now this is just purely my speculation, a theory that has no evidence whatsoever. What if Galactus is about to replace Norrin Radd as his herald, so this could remove Radd from a lot of the movie if needed? And then since Ball is the love interest of Radd, to try and save him, she goes to the Fantastic Four to ask for help. Another thing I think Shakman could do is keep that love part of the two in there, but Ball is basically in a situation where she is doing the wrong things for the right reasons, and the Fantastic Four have to talk her out of whatever she’s doing. If that happens I think that could make for a pretty great movie, and that’s just an idea to add an emotional aspect to the story. Matt Shakman was able to carry some crazy hype throughout the run of the first season of Wandavision, I really think he’ll be able to hype up this new Fantastic Four.
